Documentation

Install the plugin, establish a trustworthy baseline, understand each comparison, and collect the right evidence when you need support.

Install and open

  1. Close Unreal Editor and extract the ProjectSentinel folder into <Project>/Plugins/.
  2. Reopen the project in Unreal Engine 5.8 and allow a rebuild if Unreal requests one.
  3. Open Window > Project Sentinel and dock the dashboard where it fits your editor layout.

First scan

  1. Press Scan Project and review overview, priorities, issues, and comparison sections.
  2. When the current state is an acceptable reference, press Overwrite Baseline.
  3. Scan again after normal work to inspect Changes Since Baseline and Changes Since Previous Scan.

Understand comparisons

  1. Baseline answers what changed since the state you intentionally accepted.
  2. Previous scan answers what changed since the immediately preceding scan.
  3. Use local filters, search, sort, saved views, and Pro presets to narrow large result sets.

Take action

  1. Use Open Asset, Open Folder, Open Folder on Disk, or Copy Path to inspect evidence.
  2. Use Fix Redirectors or Delete Empty Folders only after reviewing the confirmation scope.
  3. Ignore one issue or an issue type when the exception is intentional and should persist.

Reports and saved files

  1. Artifacts live under <Project>/Saved/ProjectSentinel/.
  2. LastReport.json is current; PreviousReport.json preserves the prior scan; Baseline.json is the accepted reference.
  3. IgnoredRules.json stores project-local exceptions.

Premium and machines

  1. Permanent ownership does not require an active Pro subscription.
  2. Pro enables Regression Alerts, premium presets, Safe Auto Fix, Extended Diagnostics, and premium support.
  3. Use Subscription Info and the website Dashboard to inspect billing and release machine slots.
